Brown Eyes Ipswich Comeback After Tough Perth Weekend for the #888 Mustang

Will Brown endured a challenging Perth Super 440, with a bright spot in Race 24 offset by a difficult Race 23 and a first-lap penalty in the final race that undid his charge from the back at Wanneroo Raceway.

Race 23 - P12
Brown qualified 12th for the opening race and was unable to make significant ground in the race, finishing where he started. The #888 Mustang lacked the straight-line speed and setup to push forward through the field, leaving the team with plenty to analyse before the evening's race.

Race 24 - P5
Starting 12th on the grid in Race 24, Brown quickly demonstrated the pace the #888 Mustang had in race condition, earning recognition as the Biggest Mover as he charged through the field in the opening laps to establish himself in the top five. He ran a clean, controlled race through the pit cycle and brought the Mustang home in 5th, a result that underlined both his speed and racecraft on the Wanneroo circuit.

Race 25 - P17
Sunday's qualifying proved the low point of the weekend, with Brown finishing 19th and narrowly missing the top 18 cut by less than two hundredths of a second. Starting from the back row, Race 25 ambitions were complicated further on the opening lap when contact with Rylan Gray at Turn 6 resulted in a 15-second penalty. Despite making up ground, the time penalty was too much to overcome and he classified 17th at the flag. 

While the Perth round proved difficult, Brown and the team identified clear areas to address ahead of the Ipswich Super 440 - a circuit that has historically suited the #888 Mustang and the focus now turns firmly to the workshop ahead of Queensland Raceway.

"We've got work to do, we've got to regroup heading to Ipswich which has been a happy hunting ground for us. I'm just going to be in the workshop with the boys, working at it and, learning and improving on what we've got and building to where we need to be."

The 2026 Supercars Championship resumes at the Century Batteries Ipswich Super 440 on August 21-23.
