Brown Charges From Back of the Grid to Score Points in All Three Townsville Races
Will Brown delivered three determined drives at the 2026 NTI Townsville 500 across all three rounds of the Supercars Championship at Reid Park. Despite facing persistent challenges in the qualifying sessions, the #888 Ford Mustang was a consistent threat in race trim, with Brown making significant ground through the field in each outing.
Race 20 — P7
Brown opened the Townsville weekend with one of the standout drives of the race, charging from 19th on the grid to seventh in the opening 35-lap sprint. Starting well down the order following a difficult qualifying session, Brown made up six places by the end of the first lap alone and continued his charge through the field. Brown traded paint with Feeney and Murray in a heated midfield battle before clearing the group and securing seventh at the chequered flag.
Race 21 — P6
Saturday's race brought another hard-fought result for Brown, who crossed the line sixth. A mid-race incident involving a fellow competitor damaged the rear tyres of the #888 Ford Mustang, forcing the team to adjust their pit strategy and make an earlier-than-planned final stop. Despite the setback, Brown maintained his composure and held on for sixth.
Race 22 — P8
Brown again started from 19th on the grid in Sunday's 68-lap finale after the team's qualifying pace continued to elude them through the Top 10 Shootout. After a chaotic opening lap that saw the Safety Car deployed following a multi-car incident at Turn 2, Brown put his head down and charged forward. By the time the pit stop sequence unfolded, he was running as high as fourth on the road, and after his stop on Lap 27 he rejoined 10th. Brown continued to push and ultimately finished eighth — a gain of 11 positions from his starting spot.
With three solid points-scoring finishes from three starts, Brown left Townsville looking ahead to the Perth Super 440 with determination to find the qualifying pace that will allow his race-day speed to translate into bigger results.
"Looking forward to going to Perth and just having another weekend on track to try and redeem ourselves, try and be faster in this car, try and get up there."
The 2026 Repco Supercars Championship resumes at the Perth Super 440 on August 2, 2026.
