A Brilliant Recovery by Brown to P4 at The Bend 500

Will Brown and co-driver Scott Pye delivered a strong Enduro Cup opener for Red Bull Ampol Racing, coming back from 30 seconds of penalties to finish 4th in a rain-soaked, incident-filled AirTouch 500 at The Bend Motorsport Park.

Brown qualified 13th for the 500-kilometre enduro after a brake issue on his final qualifying lap denied him entry to the Top Ten Shootoutm he missed the cut by just 0.063 seconds. Despite the grid position, the team was confident in the race package.

Co-Driver Scott Pye took the opening stint and immediately went to work, navigating monsoon conditions, multiple safety car periods and a chaotic, water-logged circuit to move the #87 Mustang through the order. Unfortunately Pye picked up 30 seconds of penalties which Brown had to serve in the lane once he took over, but the #888 was in a position to charge after the stop.

Brown pushed the Mustang hard in the closing stages of the 141-lap encounter, extracting everything from the package to secure fifth place at the chequered flag and was promoted to 4th with penalties served ahead, a result that demonstrated genuine pace throughout the field.

The points haul from The Bend reinforces Red Bull Ampol Racing's Enduro Cup campaign and builds momentum heading into Mount Panorama. With the pairing's race craft and the Mustang's long-run performance on strong display, Brown and Pye head to Bathurst full of confidence.

"We showed what this car can do on race pace today. To start 13th, have 30 seconds of penalties to serve then come back to fourth in an enduro is a good day. Qualifying cost us a chance at the podium but our pace is right there, we're excited for Bathurst."

The 2026 Supercars Championship resumes at the Bathurst 1000 on October 8–11.
